Remember, the Basic Builder is the place where you are going to build all your simple text emails.

There are 4 options to create and send basic emails:

1) To create an email template that you are going to
save & reuse, you will want to head to the Tools > Email Templates page.
[Hatchbuck best practice- always save your emails as templates, you never know when you might want to use that email again in the future]

2) To send one on the fly, you can select  your contacts and then select the Send Email button from the contact list view.

3) To send a one-off email to a list, select the checkbox next to every person on your list and select the first button - Send Email. You can build an email from there.

4)To send to an individual, go to their Contact Record and select Send Email from buttons on the top right.

For any of these sending methods you will select Start from Scratch option and select the Text Editor

Here are a few things to note as you build your basic email:

  • Personalizing your Subject Line: Use the "personalize" menu here. This is pull information from each contact's record, no matter how many contacts you are sending to.
  • Personalizing the Body of the Email: Use the personalize menu just above the text field

  • Inserting A Document: You won't be able to add attachments to emails in Hatchbuck, but you can insert them as a link. Which is much better! Now you can track who is reading your document and set actions on the link when clicked.
  • Upload your document to the Tools > My Files section.
  • Remember to name it something your Contacts can see
  • You will now find your document in the My Files drop-down shown below.
  • That will drop in a link to your document that can be tracked!

You can upload on the file or select from files uploaded previously with My Files

  • Adding an image: Use the image icon to upload or link to an image

You can upload an image or select from your image library [frequently used images]

  • Copying your Information from somewhere else: Make sure to copy into one of these tools and not straight into the email body (it will keep your formatting from looking crazy!)
[Hatchbuck tip- paste text into Notepad then paste into your email]
